Patrons Enjoy Many Unique Benefits
| "I am comforted that my instrument is being maintained and cared for by the highest caliber of experts. This is important to not only me as the present owner but also to future owners in years to come." Edward Manzo |

Patrons have found their relationship with the Society and the extraordinary
young artists that are selected as recipients to be profoundly rewarding.
"I had three grandchildren studying violin and planned to keep the
instruments in the family. I realized though that many artists could not
afford the tools of their trade; we try to give them a leg up. The
instruments inspire the musicians to search for a new, more profound voice.
Then they go out and make recordings and for a few dollars everyone can
enjoy these incredible instruments and the music these talented youngsters
express." Mary Galvin
"I had been interested in owning a rare instrument for a long time—but I
wanted the instrument to be played, not just to be kept in a vault. When I
found out about The Stradivari Society, I knew I could accomplish something
of value for young violinists. I've been a patron for over six years and I
have the satisfaction of knowing that I am benefitting from not only
collecting rare instruments but also from hearing them being played by great
musicians." Clement Arrison
"I acquired the 'Bagshawe' Stradivari to make it available through The
Stradivari Society to Janice Martin. I wanted to help further her career;
she is a wonderful musician. Her playing is greater with each concert. It
has been immensely satisfying to see her growth as an artist. She is
fulfilling every expectation I had for her. As a patron, I have enjoyed
seeing many extraordinary performances on the great instruments in the
Society's collection. " Joseph Burstein
"I became a patron of the Stradivari Society about six years ago. This was
somewhat of an adventure for me. Many years ago, as a young man in college,
I became friends with a graduate student whose direct ancestors had been the
patrons of Joseph Haydn. Two decades later, pure chance led me into
conversation with Lynn Harrell, who then was playing on a cello passed to
him by Jacqueline Du Pre. He explained that fine concert string instruments
are so overwhelmingly expensive that in general, artists cannot really
afford to acquire them without some form of patronage.
After another decade, I wanted (and was able) to do something beneficial for
someone. It so happened that my children were studying violin, and my wife
wanted me to think about buying a violin for future use by one or more of
our children. They were not ready yet for a concert instrument, but the
opportunity presented itself to help a deserving violinist by acquiring and
lending a fine instrument. I recalled what I had learned from Messrs.
Hozard-Esterhazy and Harrell about the great need for patronage, ascertained
that investing in a fine musical instrument would be a relatively safe
diversification of assets, and of course considered the urging of my wife,
albeit due to a different agenda.
From the relationship with The Stradivari Society® and my recipient
violinists, I have greatly enjoyed meeting some other patrons and hearing
several fine virtuosi in forums that I would never otherwise be able to
enjoy. I have been privileged to come to know and help two exceptional
violinists thus far, and through them I have not only heard music played at
the uppermost caliber, but also I have learned about the world that artists
live in and the problems they must confront. The concerts which I have been
able to host, as a benefit of being a patron, have been wonderfully received
by my various audiences—family, friends, neighbors, clients, and church, and
I am edified in being able to provide for this. Additionally, my continued
friendship and dialogues with Messrs. Bein and Fushi have been yet another
fascination." Edward Manzo
